CUSTOM FIT SKI BOOTS: WHY YOU NEED THEM
When it comes to ski boots, achieving the perfect balance of comfort and performance is a fine art. Each element from sock to shell works as part of a complex system that optimises comfort, support and performance. By taking the time to customise your footwear, you can eliminate pain and enjoy superior control over your skis.
How Do Ski Boots Work?
Technical Socks
Your socks are the foundation of your boot system. A badly-fitted, poor quality sock can cause chafing and irritation, which leads to pain and blisters. Technical ski socks wick moisture away from the skin to keep your feet feeling warm and comfortable. They provide cushioning and insulation where you need it most, and place thinner fabric on top of the foot to aid breathability. Some brands use compression to improve blood flow, which helps to reduce fatigue and aid recovery.
Footbeds
When it comes to achieving a precision fit, the footbed arguably has more impact than the boot itself. By correctly stabilising the foot, you automatically eliminate a lot of common problems, limit excess movement and create a more reactive relationship between the foot, boot and ski.
Snow+Rock has two types of footbeds available: pre-moulded and custom moulded. Superfeet pre-moulded footbeds provide comfort and support for a wide range of foot types, but if you would prefer something completely tailored to you, ask our expert boot fitters about a Boot Fitting Appointment.
Performance Liners
Every season, many brands update their boot liners, debuting greater heel hold and better anatomical shaping than ever before. More liners now feature heat-mouldable foam in key areas, allowing them to be shaped to accommodate problem areas.
We also offer a range of liners that can be moulded in their entirety, not only to fit the exact contours of your leg and foot, but to sit seamlessly against the internal detailing of your boot. Chat with our expert's in-store to learn more.
Shell Technology
Brands continue to make it easier than ever before to get a personalised boot fit. Custom heat moulding, adjustable volume, and anatomically-shaped shells and liners provide a fantastic starting point for our boot fitters, who can then mould, stretch and grind your boots, to further optimise fit, comfort and performance.
