Clean your boots after every muddy or wet outing to prevent dirt buildup and material damage. Regular cleaning maintains waterproofing, breathability, and grip, prolonging the life of your footwear and ensuring comfort and safety on future adventures.

Use a soft brush and damp cloth for leather, a suede brush and specialist cleaner for suede/nubuck, and mild soap for synthetics. Always remove laces and insoles for thorough cleaning, and avoid harsh chemicals or washing machines, which can damage materials.

Air-dry boots naturally in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, which can crack leather and damage adhesives. Stuff boots loosely with newspaper to absorb moisture and help retain shape, replacing the paper as it becomes saturated.

If water stops beading on the surface or the leather looks dry, it’s time to reproof. Use appropriate sprays, creams, or waxes based on your boot material. Regular reproofing helps maintain waterproofing and extends the life of your footwear.

Store boots in a dry, well-ventilated area away from heat sources. Avoid plastic bags or airtight containers, which can trap moisture and cause mold. Remove insoles and loosely fill boots with newspaper to help retain shape during long-term storage.
